imPACT 2012

Editor’s Note

It has been more than a year since the first issue of imPACT was published. A lot has happened during this time;, political insurgencies, judiciary crisis, security threats and power shortages. It has become extremely difficult for people to cope with all these problems with very limited resources at hand. These stresses certainly affects the mental health of so many people and therefore, the need for improving the psychological well being of nation, is becoming increasingly important. With this aim PACT has been very active in arranging lectures, conducting workshops and seminars across the country. Second Annual conference of PACT held in Karachi was another step forward in its consistent efforts for the promotion of awareness about psychological problems and their remedies. There are many other workshops and lectures in pipeline for the days ahead. Continuing the efforts to promote CBT in Pakistan, here is the second issue of imPACT. We are grateful to those who contributed to this issue. I am pleased to inform you that we are planning to publish imPACT as a journal and that would be the first journal in Pakistan highlighting the empirical work done on CBT by mental health professionals and students. Therefore, we urge all mental health professionals and institutes in Pakistan to join us in promoting teaching, training and research in CBT to improve health and well being of the nation.

In the end, I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who by any means was a source of help during the compilation of this issue.
